Imran Khan’s health and prison conditions have once again become the centre of Pakistan’s political debate. Following a recent meeting and medical examination, his sister Dr Uzma Khan has said that the PTI founder appeared physically well and that his blood pressure and eyesight were found to be satisfactory. Government officials have also maintained that a team of specialists examined him and declared him medically fit.
However, the controversy has moved far beyond the medical report. Imran Khan's family and PTI have raised serious questions over his treatment, prison conditions and access to facilities. According to Uzma Khan's account, Imran Khan expressed concerns about isolation and demanded access to television and reading material. The government, meanwhile, rejects allegations of mistreatment and says he receives medical care and other facilities in accordance with the law.
The latest dispute intensified after the Supreme Court ordered Imran Khan's transfer to Shifa International Hospital for medical care. Instead, he was taken for an examination at PIMS and subsequently returned to Adiala Jail, triggering strong criticism from PTI and his family. PTI has now filed a contempt of court petition, alleging that the government failed to comply with the Supreme Court's order.
In this video, we examine Uzma Khan's latest statement, Imran Khan's reported condition, the controversy surrounding his hospital transfer, his demands regarding television and reading material, and the legal battle that has now reached the Supreme Court.
Is Imran Khan's health controversy finally settled—or has the hospital episode opened an even bigger political and legal confrontation?
