Your Children Are NOT Your Retirement Plan! | Retirement Planning in India | Financial Freedom Retirement planning is one of the most ignored financial goals among Indian families. We often prioritize our children’s education, marriage, home, and other family responsibilities—but forget to build enough money for our own future. In this video, we discuss why Indian parents tend to put retirement planning on the back seat and why this traditional approach can create serious financial problems later in life. Children’s education is important. Family responsibilities are important. But your retirement and financial independence are equally important. Unlike education or home loans, there is no retirement loan available when you run out of money after 60. This is why building your retirement corpus from your first salary can make a huge difference. We discuss how parents can balance children’s education and retirement savings, why depending on children after retirement can be risky, and why your retirement corpus should remain available for your own financial needs. Retirement expenses can increase significantly because of healthcare costs, medicines, domestic help, transportation, lifestyle expenses, and unexpected responsibilities. Even after retirement, financial responsibilities may continue through children, grandchildren, and family needs. The goal should not simply be to stop working at 60. The real goal should be to achieve financial freedom—having enough money to maintain your lifestyle and make your own financial decisions without depending entirely on your children. Starting retirement planning at 40 or 45 can make the journey much harder because there is less time for your money to compound. Starting early, increasing savings with income, and maintaining discipline can give you a much stronger financial foundation. In this discussion, we also explore the idea of allocating a portion of your savings toward yourself and your children, instead of putting your entire financial future at risk for family responsibilities. Watch the complete video to understand why retirement planning should start from your first salary—not your last working year. ⏱️ Video Chapters 00:00 Introduction 01:05 Why Retirement Always Takes the Back Seat 02:35 The Traditional Indian Approach to Retirement 04:10 Why Children Should NOT Be Your Retirement Corpus 06:00 Retirement Planning vs Children’s Education 08:05 Why Financial Independence Matters After 60 #retirementplanning #financialfreedom #revanthchalamala #savings #mutualfunds #sip #wealthcreation 🚨Must Know: Are You Ignoring Your Retirement?
