Ob (Kiely Jenkins) leaving messages on my answering machine starting around 1982.

I met Ob and the Fun Gallery crew through my brother Peter. He was a favorite and as you can tell he loved snappin on my brother and me. A native New Yorker, I thought he was the coolest of his generation. Sadly, he died way too young. https://www.artforum.com/events/kiely... https://www.artnet.com/magazine_pre20... https://gallery98.org/category/kiely-... American sculptor and East Village art scene figure Kiely Jenkins was born in 1959 and passed away in 2005. (askArt) He was widely known in the 1980s for his zany, low-brow cartoon animal sculptures and detailed dioramas, frequently exhibiting at the seminal Fun Gallery alongside contemporary graffiti legends like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. (Artnet) Our friend Richard adds... He ran with the original Upper Westside Parkies and tagged Obdewl X (hence his nickname) and he had a deep connection with the subways and writers who painted the trains. His crowd was Rammellzee, J Walter Negro, Futura, Zephyr, Revolt and Patti Astor.
