I quit my corporate career to chase a childhood dream of becoming a filmmaker, leading me to launch a feminist documentary channel in my 40s. This video offers a glimpse into my story.
On this channel I’m asking women to be vulnerable and share their stories, so it felt only right to join them and share mine. In this first solo episode, I talk about the camera-obsessed kid who was steered away from film school, the time I spent on a photography side hustle business, and the healing journey that finally gave me the courage to start again.
I open up about grieving the life I thought I'd have (husband and children), finding sobriety, and the depression I didn't think would ever end, until one woman's podcast changed my life in a single day. That moment is why I believe women's stories can be life-saving, and why I've dedicated this chapter of my life to helping women tell theirs.
I also take you along as I drive across Canada in Blanche, my 2012 Sprinter van turned home-office-on-wheels, and talk honestly about the financial risk, the fear of failure, and the challenge of putting my own face in front of the camera.
If you're in midlife and feeling stuck, unsure of what comes next, I hope this reminds you that it's never too late to begin.
