Welcome back to "Vistas past the windshield." Today, we take you on a highly dramatic summer driving journey along Route 136 on the beautiful coast of West Izu. What began as a plan to watch the sunset over the western sea quickly turned into an unforgettable encounter with the raw power—and mystery—of nature. It’s around 5:30 PM in July. Normally, the sweeping vistas of Suruga Bay to our left would offer a stunning passenger view, but as the sky suddenly bruises into a deep, ominous dark, a quiet anxiety fills the car.
