Stray Thoughts

David Borgo - tenor saxophone; composition Josh Nelson - piano Luca Alemanno - double bass Dan Schnelle - drum set recorded June 22, 2026 at Spragueland Studios Peter Sprague, recording engineer all rights reserved, David Borgo Music A.S.C.A.P. 2026 This composition was initially inspired when the large intervals I was playing on the saxophone to help diagnose a mechanical problem struck me as fodder for a modern-sounding tune. They also reminded me of the daring melodic leaps found in several Billy Strayhorn compositions so I incorporated some of his suspended, bittersweet minor-major 7th harmonies.
