My Amiga Can Do WHAT?! MP3, AAC, Printing, Scanning & YouTube

What can a classic Amiga do in 2026? You might be surprised! In this video, I take you through my Mint Software collection, demonstrating modern audio, printing, scanning and even YouTube and live BBC One IPTV on my real Amiga, powered by a Motorola 68060 running at just 50MHz! I'm Darren Banfi, the developer behind Mint Software, and I wanted to show you what I've been working on and what these old machines are still capable of. 🎵 MintAMP – Modern audio on a classic Amiga We start with MintAMP, my multimedia audio player, with live demonstrations of MP3 and AAC internet radio streaming through the Amiga's original Paula sound chip. 🖨️ MintPRINT – Printing from the Amiga Next, I demonstrate MintPRINT, which brings modern network printing to classic Amigas. Watch me send a test print to a modern printer. 📷 MintSCAN – Modern scanning I then demonstrate MintSCAN, using a modern network scanner to scan a document directly into the Amiga. 📺 MintVID – YouTube and IPTV on a 50MHz 68060! Finally, we get to MintVID, my video player for accelerated classic Amigas. I demonstrate YouTube playback, including videos from Dan Wood and another Amiga YouTube channel, followed by a live BBC One IPTV stream. All of this is running on my real 68060 at 50MHz, using the Amiga's original chipset and Paula audio. For modern H.264 video playback, I consider this a low-end setup! The 68060 can't decode everything in real time, but MintVID's playback modes can prioritise continuous audio while displaying video frames at a rate the machine can manage. The fact that I can listen to YouTube and watch live television on this hardware still amazes me. 🖥️ COMING NEXT – MintREMOTE At the end of the video, I also talk about MintREMOTE, my latest project, which allows you to view and remotely control an Amiga desktop from another computer.
