Create and publish your first Open edX course in Studio, then enroll a separate learner and verify the result from that learner’s own browser session.
This beginner-friendly walkthrough covers course identity and scheduling, Open edX’s section → subsection → unit → component structure, a Text component, a Single Select knowledge check, Preview versus published content, enrollment, and a successful learner submission with feedback.

In this video:
• Create a small self-paced course in Open edX Studio
• Configure enrollment and course start dates
• Build a section, subsection, unit, Text component, and Single Select problem
• Compare Preview with the learner-facing published course
• Publish the course and enroll a prepared non-staff learner
• Verify access, submit the correct answer, and confirm feedback in a separate browser session
Demonstrated environment:
• Ubuntu Server 26.04 LTS on AMD64
• Tutor 22.0.1
• Open edX Verawood (release/verawood.1)
• Tutor local deployment on one public server
• Existing LMS and Studio endpoints over HTTPS
Version note: This walkthrough is pinned to Tutor 22.0.1 and Open edX Verawood. Labels and screen layouts may differ in later releases or customized installations.
Scope note: The example is intentionally small and proves the operational path from authoring to learner interaction. It is not a complete instructional-design course and does not cover public registration and email delivery, certificates, advanced grading, detailed roles, bulk enrollment, accessibility certification, or production-scale course design.
