No voiceover, just a peaceful sketchbook inking session with sumi brush and glass dip pen, accompanied by music. Going with the flow. It's a natural and free drawing process in ink while I recreate Shel Silverstein’s classic book cover "A Giraffe and a Half" using continuous line gesture, ink with a Sumi brush, then adding details with a glass fountain dip pen. In this session, I explore Shel Silverstein’s whimsical, child-like illustration style. Did you know he actually started out tracing? He believed imitation and copying is a natural first step before an artist finds their voice, prioritizing the raw expression of an idea over technical perfection. That is a great summary of what this video is & I hope you enjoy it! My name is Penelope, an artist and illustrator behind Web of Pen. My work brings together traditional artist training and a contemporary art education. I mix mediums to get that elusive desired output. I'm an old soul seeking a nostalgic, vintage feeling in my work. I find inspiration in old fairy tales, literature, films, folklore, and the stories that shape who I am today. Special thanks to: www.classicals.de Bach - Cello Suite No.1 in G major, BWV 1007 - I.
