Every driver has one night they don't like to talk about. Here are seven of them, from me and from the drivers I trust. No ghosts, no monsters. Just real roads, real truck stops, and one thing in every story that doesn't fit. A trailer I hooked up in Savannah that wasn't the same trailer in the morning. Dale, and the one day every year when somebody has already paid for his breakfast. Tay, and the boots by her door that only move when nobody's recording. Bones, a CAT scale in Utah, and an empty trailer that weighed fourteen thousand pounds. Gus, an old railroad crossing in the Central Valley, and a train that took too long to pass. Hector, a truck stop in West Texas, and a man who sat in his cab all night, waiting for his turn. And fresh snow at a rest area in Pennsylvania, with one set of footprints around my truck. These stories are based on real experiences shared by truck drivers. Some names, places and details have been changed for safety and privacy. If you drive at night, take care of yourself out there. Subscribe if you want more stories from the road. Have you experienced something unexplainable on the road?
