Best Songs of 1987 Ranked | Depeche Mode, Prince, George Michael & More

Best songs of 1987 ranked — Top 50 countdown featuring Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Prince, U2, Erasure, New Order, The Cure, George Michael, INXS and more from one of the most iconic years in music history. This is my ranking of the top 50 songs of 1987 (fully biased, zero apologies), covering the best alternative, synth pop, new wave, and 80s pop classics. 1987 was peak 80s energy: dramatic vocals, massive hooks, neon production, and melodies that still feel like they belong in a movie montage where you dramatically stare out a rain-covered window. Watch until the end because the Top 10 is stacked — and yes, I absolutely stand by my #1 pick. Drop a comment with your favorite song from 1987 — or the one you think I completely screwed up.
