1st place on Cyberscore and The Sonic Center at time of original achievement. I originally achieved this record on December 7, 2007.
I wanted to complete the mission in under four minutes here, but I didn’t have enough time to do that at this time. The twelve non-Team Sonic area rings in this stage are in two separate lines, as the last two rings don’t guide you along when you light dash the trail from the starting platform. These rings can be acquired more easily if you move the control stick backward as the light dash begins, and then forward near the end of the first ring trail while you light dash. You don’t want to get a lot of speed when light dashing or you can go far enough out of the first ring trail where you miss one, two, or both of said last two rings in the second ring trail. Your teammates usually collect the last ring when you do this successful approach to the light dash. You can also get the twelve rings with a different approach – light dash the second to last ring after the first light dash ends by aiming back at the starting platform. Your teammates usually land on the trolley and pull you to them, which makes you obtain the twelfth ring as you go upward. Nonetheless, I don’t know if a fully effective strategy for this area exists where you can get all twelve rings no matter how many times in a row you use it.
The last part of this stage in the altar region is fun with the cage phasing strategy. The Dummy Ring Bombs can be thrown in multiple different ways, but the vital part of doing that successfully is to keep your characters aimed in the same direction that you thundershoot in as long as possible before executing the Dummy Ring Bomb attack. This gives you enough time to use the attack before both characters return to Flight Formation. You should thundershoot Knuckles as close to the floor as possible because it makes this strategy work more effectively. I haven’t found a really consistent strategy to do this with Team Sonic every time, even though I have tried a lot of methods and aiming directions for thundershooting. Do note that you can phase into the cage with two sets of Dummy Ring Bombs and Knuckles at level zero; you don’t need him leveled up. I may improve this ring attack’s time sometime later.
