A replacement bracket needs a straight edge, a bevel and a bolt-access hole. The worker has an oxy-fuel outfit and a drawing, but that is not enough to begin. The material must be suitable, the retained piece must account for kerf, and the gas system must deliver the correct flow safely. This lesson follows the task from planning through setup, cutting and inspection. The diagrams and dimensions are original teaching examples. Practical work uses the actual equipment manual, the approved work procedure and supervised demonstration; an animation cannot establish an operator’s practical competence. Moving diagrams, worked examples and separate practice answers for Millwright learners. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN • Plan oxy-fuel cutting work by identifying material, coatings, hot-work, fire, ventilation, personal-protection and stored-energy hazards. • Explain and select compatible cylinders, regulators, hoses, safety devices, torches and tips using gas-specific identification and actual equipment instructions. • Explain supported cuts in plate, sheet, round stock, rebar, structural shapes and nuts, including holes, bevels, guides, kerf compensation and original geometry examples. • Inspect cutting quality and equipment condition, respond to abnormal operation, complete the prescribed shutdown and prepare evidence for supervised practical assessment. CHAPTERS 0:00 Make the cut fit the job and the equipment 0:43 Understand what the cutting oxygen actually does 2:12 Plan the hot-work area in three dimensions 7:37 Recognize regulator creep and stop the operation 15:59 Calculate the path centre from the required edge 19:34 Define a bevel angle before calculating the jet path 21:43 Set a circle guide from the retained side of the kerf 25:38 Practice: choose the path and challenge the setting 26:32 Answer: compensate toward scrap and verify the whole system 27:19 Retrieval check: what changes when the job changes? 28:04 Carry the plan through shutdown and practical assessment HOW TO STUDY Watch the mechanism. Explain the example aloud. Pause for practice. Recall the answers tomorrow. Next: BC F1 SOURCES AND SCOPE Mapped Millwright curriculum BC F1, PDF pages 49–51. Original teaching.
