Conclusion:
What can I say? It’s definitely an indispensable unit for everyone. You don’t see it very often, but it’s definitely a lot of fun (check out my videos).
• Varangian Guards: Hidden Gems? | Conquero'...
It’s a truly great unit that can be used in a variety of ways and can even break through strong shield formations on its own (just imagine if you had 2–3 other players playing with the Varangians alongside you?).
However, it’s not a unit you should just throw into the fray without any support, only to get frustrated that you’re barely getting any kills. As I said: It’s a very good unit when used as part of a team unless you manage to flank with it.
Please note that we played this unit a little differently here or at least tried to portray it realistically. With the Azaps, for example, you could basically wait until their “2” ability expires and then spam abilities with the Varangians, the same goes for the Spartans.
Everything depending on the player’s experience or in a 1vs1, which is quite rare.
You can win this way and suffer significantly fewer losses, though that’s not what we did here.
With a bit of timing, I’d even say you can win against the QK.
