Build your own FM radio from individual electronic components with this step-by-step RADIOSOL assembly tutorial.
In this hands-on electronics project, you will assemble the complete radio circuit board, solder the electronic components, install the digital display, connect the speaker and battery terminals, assemble the enclosure, and test the finished radio.
The RADIOSOL kit uses an RDA5807 FM radio module, TDA2822 audio amplifier, STC8G controller, 4-digit digital display, resistors, capacitors, switches, antenna, speaker, and other components to create a functional FM radio with automatic station searching and adjustable volume.
This project is ideal for electronics students, STEM activities, soldering practice, hobbyists, classrooms, and anyone interested in learning how electronic components are assembled into a working device.
In this video, you will learn:
• How to identify and install electronic components on a PCB
• How to solder surface-mounted and through-hole components
• How to identify resistor values using color bands
• How to identify electrolytic capacitor polarity
• How to correctly orient IC sockets and integrated circuits
• How to install an LED with the correct polarity
• How to install the RDA5807 FM radio module
• How to install a 4-digit digital display
• How to connect battery terminals and the speaker
• How to assemble the radio enclosure
• How to test and troubleshoot solder connections
• How to power the radio using batteries or USB

POWER INFORMATION
The radio can be powered using three AAA batteries or a USB power source.
Do not use USB power and batteries at the same time. Select only one power source.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If the radio does not operate correctly, first try a new set of batteries or a different USB power source. If the problem continues, carefully inspect all solder joints. One or more solder connections may not be making proper electrical contact.
When the radio is assembled and soldered correctly, it should power on and automatically begin searching for FM stations.
SAFETY
Soldering irons become extremely hot and can cause burns. Work in a well-ventilated area and follow proper soldering safety procedures. Adult supervision is recommended for younger students and beginners.
