Colne Valley Circular South, Marsden/Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire

Having already walked the northern circuit, I think the southern side of Marsden, Colne Valley Circular, has to be the prettiest scenery I've seen. Also the longest I've walked in a while, (the full north and south circular is about 13 miles). However, on the warmest April in 7 years, the experience was worth it. After the initial climb up the valley, we took narrow tracks overlooking Marsden, some bits more challenging than others, before reaching farmlands and woodlands towards Slaithwaite. On route, we passed a creative display of sculpture artworks, an obstinate horse blocking my way, then a magnificent heron beside the Huddersfield Canal. Just to mention Ashby's Delli in Slaithwaite where we had a cuppa is well recommended. Friendly and good food too. https://slaithwaite.info/ashbys-deli-...
