In Denmark, there is a process of building a new dual track railway between Copenhagen and Ringsted. As Denmark will be the first country to carry out a countrywide implementation of ERTMS level 2, the newest European common signaling standard, fiber optic cable is also being deployed. The fiber cable will be installed in fiber protection ducts from GM Plast A/S. A special rail ducting package has been developed for this. To see how this work is being carried out GM Plast has been on a worksite to see some of the work routines. One of the most important things in this part of the project, is to get away from the vicinity of the tracks. If the signal cables should be deployed from the tracks, or just very near to the tracks the train services would be greatly disturbed.
