Diving Raja Ampat - Wobbegongs, Barracuda and a Week at Papua Explorers

Seven days diving Raja Ampat out of Papua Explorers on Gam Island, West Papua, November 2023. We flew into Sorong and ran across to the resort by speedboat, then dived the Dampier Strait for a week - Cape Kri, Chicken Reef, Mike's Point, Sardine Reef, Sawandarek, Manta Sandy and the house reef under the jetty. Water was warm and the current ran hard on the points, which is exactly why the fish stack up there. What's in it: schooling barracuda and sweetlips on the strait, tasselled wobbegongs tucked under the ledges, a whitetip cruising the blue, green turtles, morays, a map pufferfish sitting out on the sand, silverside baitballs, and about as much healthy hard coral as I have seen anywhere. Above water we ran up to Piaynemo for the karst viewpoint, through the Kabui Bay mangrove passage, and out to the village. The drone went over the side of the boat on day four, so the aerials all come from the first half of the trip. Shot on GoPro and DJI. No colour footage was faked - the reds are restored in the grade because water eats them, which is what your eye and your torch do in real life.
