Australian Rhododendron hybrids at The Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden!

This week on The Horti-Culturalists we're back at The Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden to look at their unique collection of Australian bred Rhododendron hybrids! Australian breeders were looking to select plants for early flowering to beat our summer heat so these plants are particularly suited to our climate. Most of these hybrids wouldn't have made it out of the country and they can't be shipped overseas now, so for those of you outside of Australia...sorry! For those in Australia looking to find these cultivars, some are easy to find, others not. But you can always join the Australian Rhododendron Society for notification about plant sales. In this video we'll also talk to Prue Crome who is managing the revitalisation of the Australian hybrid Rhododendron collection at The Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden and get her recommendations for the best cultivars!
