Highbury was Arsenal’s home for 93 years, hosting generations of supporters before the club moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2006. But the stadium did not vanish entirely. Its historic East and West Stand facades were incorporated into Highbury Square, while the former pitch became landscaped gardens surrounded by apartments.
This video explores how a famous football ground was transformed into a residential neighbourhood, what survived through the redevelopment, and what was lost when the noise of matchday was replaced by the quiet of everyday life. From Art Deco architecture and the Marble Hall to the changing position of the iconic clock, Highbury’s story reveals how places can continue to carry their past long after their original purpose has ended.
