Two days of gravel riding on the New River Trail in Virginia. On day 1 we rode from Chestnut Creek Cabins to Ivanhoe and back. On day 2 we rode to Fries and back. The New River Trail State Park is really a wonderful rail trail with beautiful rivers and interesting old train trestles. The trail is over 57 miles long and we only rode a portion of it. Video taken the end of September, 2026. Shout out to ‪@joyfultrails‬ ‪@TheBane1979‬ and ‪@billysbikesbrews7183‬ who's videos got me excited to explore this trail. #railtrail #gravelbike #gravelcycling #virginia Chapters: 00:00 - Intro 00:45 - New River Trail Map 01:09 - Begin day 1 at Chestnut Creek Cabins 02:06 - Chestnut Creek straight bridge northbound 02:39 - Chestnut Creek curved bridge northbound 02:56 - cow field 03:09 - road crossing 03:20 - traveling music 03:32 - Fries Junction Trestle northbound 04:37 - P39 milepost 05:05 - Byllesby Dam 05:39 - cool cliffs 05:49 - Buck Dam 06:26 - Ivanhoe Train Trestle 06:53 - New River Trail Ivanhoe trailhead 07:55 - between the dams 09:47 - Fries Junction Trestle southbound 10:02 - Historic railroad tunnel (the Chestnut Creek / Galax tunnel) southbound 10:32 - P41 milepost 10:56 - Chestnut Creek curved bridge southbound 11:28 - Chestnut Creek Falls 12:31 - Begin day 2 13:13 - Historic railroad tunnel (the Chestnut Creek / Galax tunnel) northbound 14:04 - Fries Junction Trestle northbound 14:37 - Fries Junction 16:13 - Fries 16:51 - Fries Dam 17:22 - Fries River Park kayak / canoe / small boat launch 17:58 - "trail from Fries to Fries Junction is nice" 19:53 - Fries Junction Trestle southbound 20:12 - Historic railroad tunnel (the Chestnut Creek / Galax tunnel) southbound 21:03 - Conclusion Music: Lift Up by Mini Vandals Sweet Math by Mini Vandals Inconsciousness by Mini Vandals Over the Mountain by Mini Vandals
