I Made 60 Paintings in 7 Days - And Fixed My Tight Painting

I made 60 paintings in 7 days to break out of tight painting habits, perfectionism and creative stiffness. This is Day 7 — the final making day of my Paint Morning Pages / The Purge expressive painting experiment. By the end of the week, something had changed. I wasn't really trying to “purge” anymore. I was simply painting more instinctively — making stronger marks, following the energy, resisting the obvious image when I could, and learning when enough was enough.That is what interested me most. This seven-day painting challenge began as a way of disrupting the habits that can build up after years of painting: predictable marks, safe decisions, overworking, perfectionism and the pressure to make every painting “good.” Using cheap paper, basic materials, fast marks and non-objective painting techniques, I deliberately tried to make myself work outside my usual patterns.
