Perséides : Mental Tekno 142 BPM | Digitone & Cobalt 8x + analog dual delay | #dawless

B U R N I N G -03- P E R S E I D E S Dawless improvisation with one Elektron Digitone and the Modal Electronics Cobalt 8x + Line 6 DL4 MK2 & NDR-5 Atlantic. I use the Cobalt 8x freely; it isn't synced at all. I play a sustained bass arpeggio that goes into the DL4 MK2 (green pedal, big footswitches), which applies a Vintage Analog Delay; then it goes into the Atlantic (black pedal, red knobs), which applies a '60s-style analog delay with long, highly musical, harmonic feedback. I set this delay's Tap Tempo right when I activate it. Then, I take the audio signal from the Cobalt 8 (via the Atlantic) into the Digitone's input, apply Elektron reverb, and that's it—no extra delay or chorus added to the signal coming from my Cobalt-and-pedals chain. The Digitone sends MIDI sync to the DL4 MK2 multi-effects unit to lock that Vintage Analog Delay to the tempo—resulting in more effective, harmonious feedback for the next pedal in the chain, the NDR-5 Atlantic—but it doesn't sync the Cobalt 8, which isn't sequenced anyway. So, I start the Digitone's sequencer for the bassline right on the beat—by ear! It’s not perfect; it’s not robotically locked to a master clock, but it’s more than enough to stay in time long enough to record the track! (right at the very end, the bass starts to drift slightly out of sync...) As always, it’s a DAWless jam—improvised and played/recorded in a single take: "Action... and cut! That's the one, we're keeping it"—that's how I use my gear! ;)) It’s a 142 BPM Tekno track—progressive and quite "mental" in style—that even veers into something close to Industrial Tekno Tribe halfway through... but I prefer to think of it as Mental Tekno, okay? ENJOY THE TRIP ____________________ F R ____________________ J'utilise le Cobalt 8x de manière libre, il n'est pas du tout synchro. Je joue cette basse en arpège que je maintiens, il entre dans la DL4 MK2 (pédale verte, gros footswichs) qui applique un Vintage Analog Delay et ensuite il va dans l'Atlantic (pédale noire, potards rouges) qui applique un Analog Delay type sixties avec un long feedback très musical et harmonique. Je cale ce delay au Tap Tempo au moment de l'activer. Puis de l'Atlantic je récupère le signal audio du Cobalt 8 dans le Input du Digitone, j'applique dessus la réverbe Elektron et c'est tout, pas de delay ni de chorus ajouté sur le signal de ma chaîne audio Cobalt et pédales. Le Digitone synchronise en midi le multi-effets DL4 MK2 pour synchroniser au tempo ce Vintage Analog Delay et ainsi obtenir un feedback plus efficace et harmonieux sur la pédale suivante qu'est la NDR-5 Atlantic, mais il ne synchronise pas le Cobalt 8, qui n'est de toute façon pas séquencé. Je lance donc le séquenceur du Digitone sur la basse au tempo, à l'oreille ! Ce n'est pas parfait, ce n'est pas robotisé par une synchro d'horloge, mais c'est largement suffisant pour rester caler assez longtemps et enregistrer ce morceau ! (à la toute fin la basse commence à se décaler gentiment...) Comme toujours, c'est un jam dawless, improvisé et joué / enregistré en une seule et unique prise : "action........et coupez, c'est bon c'est la bonne on la garde", voilà comment j'utilise mes machines ! ;)) C'est un morceau Tekno à 142 BPM, plutôt progressif et assez mental, qui à mi-chemin vire même presque Indus Tekno Tribe......mais je préfère penser que c'est de la Mental Tekno okay ?
