Uber was a retired search-and-rescue dog from New Zealand (Heisenberg Kennels), with real experience working around helicopters. He became the main dog playing Odin, supported by his three sons, Seeka, Ryker, and Honda. The production had only 12 weeks to prepare the dogs, instead of the usual 20. Filming with a real dog meant the crew couldn't always control what happened. If Uber wanted to go in a different direction, the camera followed him. If he became distracted by a smell or something in the environment, the scene had to adapt. Brad Pitt even kept dog treats on hand to bring Uber's attention back. Uber was treated like a real actor on set, with his own care team, wardrobe, and makeup. His experience around helicopters also proved invaluable, as he remained completely calm during scenes that would have been difficult for an inexperienced dog. But what made Uber truly special was his natural personality and expressive eyes. His bond with Brad Pitt became one of the emotional foundations of "Heart of the Beast", turning the relationship between James and Odin into something that felt genuine.
