Cooper Ouellette's own mother took the stand for the state in the Life360 Trial. It started with the truck: she owned it. This is Day 3 of State of Connecticut v. Cooper Ouellette in New Britain. Prosecutors allege Cooper, 18 at the time, recklessly caused the death of his girlfriend Sophie R., 17, on the night of May 20, 2023, and that he gave alcohol to a minor. He is charged with manslaughter in the first degree. He is presumed innocent, and the state has to prove every element beyond a reasonable doubt, a lot of it with Life360 phone data the defense says cannot be trusted. Prosecutor David Clifton gets the basics first. Cooper is her son, he lived with her, and she was the registered owner of the black Chevy Silverado the police seized that day. That is the truck at the center of this whole case. Then he walks her into the morning of May 21. She woke around 5:30 to state police cruisers on her street. She says she did not wake Cooper and did not speak to him before she went out. She met the detectives halfway down the driveway. Her first question was about her younger son. Then she asked if Sophie was dead, three times. When they told her yes, she says it was like she had been sucker punched. "And I loved her." Watch how she handles the harder questions. When Clifton puts it to her that police told her right away something happened between Cooper and Sophie, she does not recall it, and more than once she answers "if you say I did, I did." She says she has seen the body cam of that morning "every time I turn on Facebook." Then the stretch that ends this clip. That afternoon people came to the house to support Cooper. She says she spoke with every one of them before they came in, and she specifically told them not to talk about Sophie's death. Asked if she told them it was not Cooper's fault, she says "probably," then that she does not recall it. Here is what I want you to sit with. A mother standing by her son is about the most human thing there is, and nothing in this clip tells you what happened in that truck. So ask why the state put her on the stand at all. Its questions pin down what she knew, when she knew it, and what was said in that house before anyone sat down with police. Why does the prosecution want the jury thinking about that afternoon? We are not the jury, and only the jurors decide what it means. --- KEY MOMENTS 0:00 What this video is, and a preview 0:11 Intro 0:48 Video starts: She confirms she owned the black Silverado 3:48 She asks the police if Sophie is dead 4:38 "Like I had been sucker punched" 7:38 She says she has watched the body cam on Facebook 10:18 She told the visitors not to talk about Sophie's death CASE BACKGROUND REPORT: https://justiceisaprocess.com/ct-v-co...
