Undisputed Attitude was the brainchild of Slayer guitarist Kerry King, who wanted to demonstrate the highly influential bands that serve as the basis of the Slayer sound. It was originally to feature songs of classic rock and 70s metal bands, but it wasn't really happening once the band started rehearsing. That's when Slayer pivoted from 70s metal to 80s punk bands; the other side of the Slayer dynamic.
The result is a ripping thrash metal album that pays tribute to the bands of Slayer's misspent youth as misguided teenagers. While Undisputed Attitude wasn't a runaway commercial smash (the album peaked at #34 on the Billboard 200), it is beloved by the Slayer die-hards and is a pleasant discovery in the band's catalogue.
"Gemini", the final song on the album, is the only one written by Slayer. It was completed before the Undisputed Attitude rehearsals and fit in with the cover songs, so it was included. This record is proof of how much hardcore punk contributed to Slayer's classic California thrash metal sound.
