How can a school help young athletes develop academically, athletically, and personally? At Elite Sports Academy, coaches Sean Greene and P.J. Howard describe a model that combines in-person classroom instruction with focused basketball training and daily expectations for responsibility.
Jared Taylor explores how that approach works: connecting classroom accountability to performance on the court, teaching students to manage demanding schedules, and building a team culture around effort and development. The coaches share their vision for a junior high pipeline, opportunities in Arizona boys’ and girls’ basketball, and helping players prepare for the responsibilities of college athletics. They also address a concern every sports family faces: how to pursue ambitious goals while leaving young people room to recover, have fun, and enjoy being kids.
