Miserere Mei Deus - Byrd

Today we bring to you an informal recording of a beautiful motet from the Renaissance period by William Byrd, ‘Miserere Mei Deus’ (Have mercy on me, O God), a setting of psalm 51, often sung on Ash Wednesday. This year marks the 400th anniversary of Byrd’s death, hence our focus on him at the present time. We hope you enjoy hearing the recording! We recorded this on 18th October in the superb acoustic of St Martin’s Church, Roath; William Byrd’s music will feature in our forthcoming concert at Llandaff Cathedral on 18th November.
