I want to be clear- I do not consider this set to be professional, it's in the hobbyist category for me, so I'm going to mostly be judging how fun it is. This set is similar quality to the one above, so if you want my professional artist opinion about this set, you can check out that actual review with a watercolor set I paid out of pocket for. I wish the lil clean sponge was bigger- it doesn't really absorb water and it gets 'full' quick'. Easy to clean though. Cottonrag Paper Pad: Chose the Peach illustration printed color lineart Will try to use the included waterbrushes with this I'm not really sure this is a cottonrag, or if it is, if it's a watermedia friendly paper. It's more like a mixed media paper- you technically can paint on it, but it's not really very receptive. Water just seits pooled on it- not soaking in or really evaporating off. These paints are VERY stiff, particularly with these waterbrushes, and water is hard to control with these waterbrushes. I sorta feel like i'm just glopping paint around and hoping for the best. THe paper doesn't have an assertive enough texture for granulation or other interesting effects to show up, or to really pull & hold the paint. I'm having a hard time with these waterbrushes- nuance escapes me with these, and one of the large rounds has a long hair that messes up brushstrokes. These really remind me of my previous experiences with Grabie watercolors. To be honest, I'm surprised they contacted me again about checking out their products- I am not your usual Tiktok girly singing their praises and pointing you to the Tiktok shop. Calendar: Easy to Ink on Sent me 2 Marches, no August--Quality control??? Using Maimeri Blu This isn't a super sturdy paper that can take a lot of painting or a lot of layers, so if you're doing this little calendar, try to keep it simple- ink and wash could be a good fit. It might be kinda thirsty for alcohol markers, might be fun for gouache or acrylic markers. I'm not really sure this paper has much sizing, painting on it really reminds me of a decent mixed media. I do feel like this paper takes awhile to dry- the water takes awhile to actually soak in, and then awhile to evaporate off. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to be aware of. The little monthly calendar is cute, but nothing super special. I know personallly that cottonrag w/c paper can be challenging to print on, so this may be why this feels like a mixed media paper.
