Taylor Swift didn’t just perform surprise songs on the Eras Tour. She started completely reimagining her own discography. In this video, I’m counting down my top five Eras Tour mashups and breaking down why each one worked so brilliantly, from the lyrical connections and unexpected transitions to the deeper Taylor Swift lore behind some of these performances. We’re talking “The Bolter” x “Getaway Car,” the incredibly romantic “Mary’s Song” x “So High School” x “Everything Has Changed,” “thanK you aIMee” x “Mean,” “The Prophecy” x “long story short,” and my personal favorite mashup from the entire tour. What made these performances so special was Taylor’s ability to take songs written years apart and find new ways for them to speak to each other. Sometimes she created an entirely new narrative. Sometimes an older song suddenly took on a completely different meaning. And sometimes she created a transition so good that it permanently altered my brain chemistry. The Eras Tour may be over, but I’m clearly not done talking about these mashups. What’s YOUR favorite Eras Tour mashup? And which one did I leave off my list?
