What Happened to College Football in California?

The state of California was once the heartbeat of college football. USC was a dynasty. Stanford was a powerhouse. Cal was sending legends to the NFL. UCLA was actually relevant. But in 2024, not a single program in the state won more than 7 games. We’re talking about a brutal talent drain, NIL misfires, coaching instability, half-empty stadiums, and a complete failure to adapt to the modern game. Meanwhile, states like Texas, Georgia, and Alabama are building recruiting pipelines, $100 million facilities, and massive NIL collectives. Top California recruits aren’t staying home anymore. From the Lincoln Riley rollercoaster at USC to Stanford's 3-win purgatory, we’re covering everything that’s gone wrong… and whether these schools can actually turn it around. Can USC finally reclaim its identity? Can UCLA build something under Deshaun Foster? Will Cal or Stanford ever matter again in the NIL era? #collegefootball #cfb #usc #ucla #stanford #calbears #bigten #accfootball
