Ayra Starr Starrgirl album Review

Ayra Starr is back with her third studio album, Starrgirl, but after listening to the project, one major question stands out. Is Ayra Starr still connected to the Afrobeats identity that made her one of Nigeria's biggest female artists? From 19 & Dangerous to The Year I Turned 21, Ayra Starr built a clear musical identity. She could move between Afrobeats and R&B while still sounding like herself. But Starrgirl feels different. The album pushes Ayra deeper into international pop and R&B, with collaborations and production that clearly aim for a wider global audience. While songs like Dangerous, Heaven Baby featuring ZAYN and Misunderstood stand out, the album as a complete body of work raises questions about her current musical direction. Is she simply evolving? Or is global success slowly taking her away from the sound and identity that made people fall in love with her? In this video, CriticBux breaks down Ayra Starr's Starrgirl, the strongest songs on the album, its move away from Afrobeats and whether this new direction will help or hurt her long term impact.
