Sonoma Chyangdung Group gathering, 10th Aug 2026

Sonoma Chyangdung Group In May 2026, we formed the Sonoma Chyangdung Group, bringing together 13 families with the motto of socializing, practicing prayers, and preserving our Sherpa songs and traditions. We gather on the first or second Monday of every month for a full day, rotating between family homes by picking chitta (drawing lots). On August 10, we held our third gathering at Gyalzen and Da Yangji’s home. The gathering time was 12:00 PM. Five of us arrived 30 minutes late without informing the group, so we each paid a $10 fine. One friend arrived three hours late and paid a $30 fine, bringing the total fines to $80. We played a game of flash with the collected money, and Phuri won! 😄 After enjoying a wonderful lunch, we spent about 30 minutes practicing prayers, followed by plenty of conversation, laughter, and games. After dinner, the evening continued with jokes, singing, and dancing. It was another wonderful day of friendship, family, culture, and togetherness. ❤️ Here is a short video capturing some memorable moments from our gathering.
