The Entire History of Korea, Basically

The entire history of Korea — from ancient kingdoms and legendary founders to Joseon, Japanese occupation, the Korean War, and the two Koreas we know today. Thousands of years of complicated history. Explained with stupidly simple drawings. Welcome to Uncle Shio's History of Stuff. In this episode, we follow Korea from Gojoseon and the Three Kingdoms through Goryeo and Joseon, invasions by the Mongols and Japan, the pressures of China, Russia and other foreign powers, Japanese colonial rule, liberation in 1945, the division of the peninsula, the Korean War, and the dramatically different paths taken by North and South Korea. This isn't meant to cover every person, battle, dynasty, or political detail in Korean history. We'd need a considerably longer scroll for that. It's the big story. Basically.
