This is a special video that I filmed of the it's a small world Clock Parade at Disneyland, during the third & last day of my most recent visit, May 3, 2022. I apologize for not telling my viewers sooner, but I actually did go to Disneyland again between May 1-3, 2022, and for the most part it was a really enjoyable time. The maintenance is still WELL below any Walt or even earlier post-Walt era standards, but many cast members are clearly still extremely dedicated to the park and their jobs, and I even had a very interesting chat with one cast member about how we have both seen the decline in Disney's U.S. theme parks maintenance and operational standards over the last several years. But anyway, as it's a small world has always been my favorite ride at Disneyland (Past & Present), I have always wanted to make a really good video of the Clock Parade, but before my trip in May I never truly got that great opportunity. I got an okay video back in 2014 where you can hear much of the parade as I entered the building, but this video is separate and much better in that I took it right next to the 25th anniversary plaque by Roy E. Disney (RIP 1930-2009) from 1989, in one of if not the best location to take videos of the Clock Parade. At least ever since 1976, when the original 1966 signage was replaced with the second variant which still had the Bank of America sponsorship, but unlike the 1976-90 version the 1966-76 BofA signage actually partially blocked the front view of the clock tower that we have usually been able to enjoy ever since then. That perspective is exactly what I tried to capture here to the best of my (and my phone's) ability. Unfortunately, sometimes my phone had a hard time getting closeups of some of the dolls and other objects, but I was able to get clear shots of many, if not most of them. I started filming the video right after the Parade started, and I basically ran over to that location as my Mom and I were exiting the ride to get this video, which I was determined to get before going, didn't get for most of the trip, until this miracle happened right after our last of five times on the ride, early on the afternoon of the last of our three days, May 3. I was able to get a pretty good video of the whole parade, starting with the iconic intro music and gears, as the Toy Soldiers doors open and prepare for the parade. Then, 24 children come out of this Clock Tower, all representing different nations and/or parts of the world, as well as the 24 hours in a day. After the parade is over, the Toy Soldiers stage another fanfare and the center top set of doors opens to reveal the time of day, subject to change whenever you arrive. Although it's not as high tech as the rest of this ride (Even FIFTY EIGHT YEARS after opening at the 64-65 World's Fair in New York!), the Clock Parade is still absolutely amazing and extremely charming in my opinion, as it always has been. I absolutely love all version of this parade, and although I personally prefer the original, different music (1966-97), I still love the current version (2003-) as well, plus the other two compositions, I believe both by John Debney and one used in CA between 1998-2002. After the Time is over, I show a little bit of the immediate area of where I was filming this video, before it ends right after the area music plays for a couple verses, as I show the Rededication plaque by Roy E Disney. I also actually do have a mostly complete video of the it's a small world ride from this trip as well, where I got some really nice shots of the ride from near the end of the Welcome room through the end of South Pacific, followed by most of the Finale in another clip afterwards. I didn't get much of the Welcome, Goodbye, and Spirit of America rooms, because I strongly believe that (As good as current Welcome/Goodbye are on their own), those rooms largely do not succeed in capturing the classic Mary Blair art style that the ride is known for (America added in 2009 and Welcome/Goodbye last remodeled in the 1990's, both after her 1978 passing), and that I actually filmed those clips the previous night when my phone was at a low battery, so I could only film a certain percentage of the ride before it died anyway. And yes, most of my own ride POV's (2014-present) have been filmed with my various electronic devices over those years, which largely consist of smartphones and sometimes tablets in earlier (2014-16) years. Anyway, I am so happy that I finally got a really good video of the Clock Parade, so I hope you enjoy it!
I do not own any of the music used in this video. All music rights go to Disney, and video filmed by me. Feel free to use this in any of your content, and credit would be very appreciated but not necessary I guess.
