Same frog, three ways to print it: 4 colours on one nozzle, 4 colours with the AMS + a second nozzle, or 2 colours with no AMS at all. I compare what the slicer says, print the 4-colour version on my Bambu Lab X2D with the AMS 2 Pro, then put everything on a kitchen scale: the frog, the prime tower and every purge. And finally: what does one frog really cost? No talking: calm printer sounds, a cozy lo-fi soundtrack and captions.
🐸 The Frog Clicker: a kawaii frog whose head is the key of a real clicky MX keyboard switch. Press the head, it clicks.
For those who want to use the 3D models, they are available on my Thangs account: https://thangs.com/designer/CrafterD
On the scale (my print, 4 colours, AMS + 2 nozzles):
• Frog: 18 g (head 8 g + body 10 g, without the switch)
• Prime tower: 14 g · Purges: 36 g → 50 g of waste
• Slicer 64.95 g · printer screen 65 g · scale 68 g
What one frog costs (PLA at 15 €/kg, electricity at 0.22 €/kWh, switch not included):
• A · 4 colours, 1 nozzle (slicer estimate): 87.20 g · 5 h 15 → ≈ 1.54 €
• B · 4 colours, AMS + 2 nozzles (my print): 68 g · 3 h 40 → ≈ 1.18 €
• C · 2 colours, 2 nozzles, no AMS (slicer estimate): 23.53 g · 1 h 07 → ≈ 0.40 €
Electricity is an estimate: about 200 W on average, Bambu Lab's published figure for the similar H2D (PLA).
Print settings: PLA · 0.4 mm nozzle · 0.2 mm layer height · 2 walls · 15 % grid infill · no supports · 2 printed parts (body + head) + 1 MX switch.
