A new hike to discover Pizzo Baciamorti (altitude 2006 m)
in the heart of the Orobie Bergamasche Park.
I parked at Capo Foppa, in a large paid parking lot
(€2 for the whole day, payment only in
cash at the totem along the road).

From the parking lot, take the path towards the
Baciamorti Pass, whose name has its roots in an ancient custom.
During the "interdict" of the Republic of Venice in the early
1600s, the inhabitants of this valley had to transport
the deceased to the cemetery of the nearby village via
this pass.
It was the point of final farewell to the deceased—hence the name
"Baciamorti."
The climb is challenging and largely shrouded in fog on days like the one in the video,
but the summit offers an extraordinary view of one side of the
valley, while on the other the fog obscured it.
completely.
From the summit, you can continue toward Mount Aralalta and
then reach the Gherardi Refuge.
Once you reach the refuge, you can take the easier
and less technical return route, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the
return immersed in nature, until you return to the starting
parking lot.
. GPX track and from the parking lot:
https://loc.wiki/t/236622882?wa=sc
. This hike is suitable for hikers with average experience,
due to some steep and technical sections. From the Gherardi Refuge to the parking lot, it is also suitable for younger hikers.
