#jazzstandard #greatamericansongbook #september September in the Rain (written by Harry Warren and Al Dubin) Kate Lee O'Connor: vocalist, violinist Bert-Jan de Wagenaar: producer, arranger, backing vocals, all instruments except strings ------- I got the chance to work with an amazing producer, arranger, musician, and vocalist named Bert-Jan de Wagenaar who I’ve never met in person. He lives in the Netherlands and I live in the US so there’s a whole ocean between us, but we were able to record our parts separately, and when we put them together, this was what we came up with! It's really fun and rewarding to record like that. I especially loved recording all the string parts Bert-Jan arranged, many of which required me to tune my violin down so it would sound like viola and cello sections after recording it many times. I want to give a big thank you to Evert Josemanders, a wonderful musician and mutual friend who introduced me to Bert-Jan and also helped us choose this standard. We were especially inspired by the iconic Dinah Washington version with that awesome key change. We all hope you enjoy it!
