How to Paint Fine Lines with Acrylics

Long, thin acrylic lines can be frustrating—especially when the paint skips, blobs, or runs out before you get where you are going. In this studio demonstration, I’ll show you how I thin acrylic paint and load a liner brush so you can make beautiful fine lines for details like whiskers, stems, branches, grasses, and more. We’ll talk about choosing a liner or rigger brush, getting your paint to a milky, inky consistency, loading the brush all the way to the ferrule, rolling it to a fine point, and using very light pressure as you pull the line. And remember: your lines do not have to be perfect. A tiny skip or variation often disappears once it is part of the whole painting.
