Woodworking Joints Series - Through Wedged Mortise and Tenon Adaptation of the through mortise and tenon. Used structurally where there is stress or racking, the 'dovetail' shaped wedged tenon offers greater resistance than the simple through tenon. Also used decoratively; although sometimes 'faked' by simply letting in what appears to be the head of a wedge, in a parallel mortise.
