1945 Avro Lancaster Taking Flight

One is in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and one is in England. We are lucky to live close to the one in Canada and try to catch one of its flights each year. This year, the day we were at its home base (Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum) it had some engine trouble. So, we decided to share videos on our channel of the other heritage aircraft flying that day, plus the Lancaster flying in 2025. The Avro Lancaster in Hamilton, Ontario, was built in 1945. It is serial #RCAF FM213. It is dedicated to Victoria Cross recipient Andrew Mynarski whose Lancaster was shot down in 1944. Mynarski saved his tail gunner's life but lost his own. The Lancaster is 69' 6" long and has a wingspan of 102'. It has 4 Packard Merlin 224 engines. The Lancaster's cruising speed is 210mph or 338kmh and has a maximum speed of 275mph or 442kmh.
