Electron configuration Grade 10

In this Grade 10 lesson I show you how to write electron configurations, using calcium (Ca) as the worked example. What's covered: How electrons fill energy levels and sub-levels: 1s, 2s, 2p, 3s, 3p, 4s How to draw the orbital diagram with arrows for the electrons How to write the configuration in full and in noble gas notation: Ca: [Ar] 4s² How to show the electrons on an atom diagram: 2, 8, 8, 2 Tip: Fill the orbitals from the lowest energy upwards, and put two electrons in an orbital with arrows pointing in opposite directions.
