Bratley View Walk | First Signs of Autumn & the Aftermath of a New Forest Fire | 4K Nature Walk (Standard Version)
This is the non-360 version of my walk, filmed in a calm, steady style for viewers who enjoy a peaceful, cinematic journey through one of the New Forest’s most beautiful woodland areas.
Join me for an early morning walk starting from Bratley View Car Park, exploring a changing New Forest landscape on my first walk of autumn. Filmed in 4K Ultra HD, the morning begins under broken cloud and cooler temperatures, bringing a noticeably different feel to the Forest as the seasons begin to change.
The route follows a mixture of forest paths through ferns and trees, crossing a small stream along the way. The walk also runs alongside the A31, meaning the sound of passing traffic is a constant reminder of how closely the natural landscape and the modern world exist alongside one another in this part of the New Forest.
Despite the traffic noise, there is plenty of wildlife to see. During the walk I encountered New Forest ponies, deer and cattle, all moving through and grazing across the surrounding landscape.
The walk takes a dramatic turn towards the end as I reach the edge of an area recently devastated by a forest fire. What had once been heathland and trees has been transformed into a striking landscape of ash, burnt ground and blackened vegetation.
I walk out across part of the affected area, carefully taking in the scale of the destruction before stopping for several minutes to look out across the fire-damaged landscape. It is a sobering and powerful sight, particularly when compared with the peaceful scenery earlier in the walk.
But amongst the ash and burnt ground, there are already signs that nature is beginning to return. Small fern shoots are breaking through, offering an encouraging reminder of the resilience of the New Forest and the natural process of recovery that will gradually reshape this landscape over time.
This walk captures two very different sides of the New Forest: peaceful woodland and wildlife on a cool autumn morning, followed by the stark aftermath of a devastating fire — and the first small signs of life emerging from the destruction.
