The state saved Tracey Grist's own son for last. He put the peacemaker plan on the record, and the state rested moments later.
Tim Ellis is Tracey's son, the middle of seven siblings, and he lives five minutes from his mother in Pleasant Grove. Self-described peacekeeper. The one who walked his younger sister Rachel down the aisle. The one who took a fatherly role with Rachel and Jacob when they were kids. Before the state asked him a single question about the shooting, the prosecutor walked him through the Grist family tree so the jury could see Tracey at the center of everyone.
Dana Facemyer does not let this witness leave without working the cross. Watch for the moment where the state's "peacemaker" becomes the defense's "protection." Watch for the moment where "one person asking" becomes "a consensus." Four minutes of cross is all it takes to reframe the foundation the state just built.
Kevin Ellis has already been convicted of murder at his own trial. Kate Restelli has already pleaded guilty to murder and conspiracy. This trial is about whether the state can prove Tracey Grist orchestrated any of it. Tim is one of the last voices the jury hears before they decide.

WATCH WITH JUSTICE
5:00 to 12:58 - Tim is sworn in and the state walks the jury through the Grist family tree. Seven siblings, four marriages, Tracey at the hub. Tim is the middle child, the peacekeeper. The state needs the family on the record before anything else.
12:58 to 16:44 - Kevin's life before the shooting. Supported by Tracey, no job, good enough at pool to have just been invited to his first Vegas tournament. He never made it. Watch how the state sets up Kevin as a man with no independent motive to do this alone.
16:44 to 19:00 - The plan. Tim confirms the family discussed Kevin and Tim being at Tracey's house if Matt came out. Peacemakers. The state's foundational theory enters through the defendant's own son.
19:00 to 21:00 - Dana Facemyer on cross. Four minutes. Peacemaker becomes protection. One person asking becomes a consensus. The defense reframe, in Tim's own words.
21:00 to 24:54 - Redirect. States Exhibit 146. Rachel's 2:33 PM text about Rory at her house, then the 9:32 PM text placing Kevin, Kate, and Jake at Tracey's with Matt 30 minutes away. The state's trap, in a phone.
25:00 to 26:29 - The gun box. Small, keycoded, on a shelf. Used for the firearm and for passports and birth certificates. Tim had accessed it before.
26:29 to 28:30 - State rests. Judge Griffin references a ruling on the state's conspiracy theory that the defense is now responding to. The substance of that ruling will matter.
