Pastor Yuan Zhiming recently argued that AI will eventually develop self-awareness and could become humanity's greatest threat. Elon Musk has likewise predicted that within the next few years, AI's overall intelligence may surpass the combined intelligence of all humanity, raising the possibility of catastrophic consequences—even the potential destruction of mankind. But how credible are these claims? More importantly, what does the Bible teach about artificial intelligence, self-awareness, and the uniqueness of human beings? In this video, we examine these questions from a biblical perspective by exploring the fundamental distinction between *intelligence* and *consciousness**, and by asking what **self-awareness* truly means. We also introduce the three major viewpoints currently held in academia regarding whether AI could ever become conscious. Drawing on computer science, we explain why AI, despite its remarkable capabilities, remains a system that performs sophisticated information processing and logical computation rather than possessing genuine subjective consciousness or personhood. More importantly, we return to the book of *Genesis* and rediscover the biblical truth that humanity was created **in the image of God**. Scripture teaches that human dignity does not rest on superior intelligence or computational ability, but on the unique personhood God has bestowed upon mankind—including rationality, will, and emotion. This is the fundamental distinction between humans, animals, and machines. Regardless of how advanced AI may become, no increase in computational power can cross the Creator's boundary and transform a machine into a true personal being. As AI continues to reshape our world, Christians should respond with neither fear nor blind optimism. Instead, we must build a thoroughly biblical worldview that enables us to discern both the opportunities and challenges brought by emerging technologies through the truth of God's Word.
