🏆 48.97 SECONDS. MY PERSONAL BEST. This is much more than just a lap time. After around 8 months of dedicating myself 100% to karting, I finally achieved something I set out to do when I started this journey. On December 31, 2025, I left my job as a programmer with one simple goal: 👉 In a very short period of time, with zero previous DD2 experience, learn everything I possibly could and become one of the fastest drivers on the track. I didn't just want to learn how to drive. I wanted to understand everything. 🏎️ Driving technique 🔧 Mechanics ⚙️ Kart setup 📐 Chassis tuning 🛞 Tyre management ⛽ Strategy 🏁 Racing lines 🧠 Data & telemetry …and everything in between. ❤️ FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW, KARTING ALSO HELPED SAVE ME. There is another part of this story that very few people know. A few years ago, I had a motorcycle accident that seriously affected my left hand. At the time, the expectations were that I might never be able to use my left hand normally again. The recovery was long and difficult. And in a way I never expected, karting became a very important part of my recovery. Driving, constantly working with the steering wheel, controlling the kart and demanding more and more from my left hand helped me regain strength, control and confidence. Today, looking back and realizing that I can drive a DD2 at the limit, fight for every tenth and put together a 48.97-second lap at Oppenrod means much more to me than just a number on a stopwatch. This 48.97s is also a small victory over something I was once told might never be possible. Sometimes, something that starts as a passion becomes part of your recovery. For me, karting became exactly that. ❤️ 🔥 WHAT DOES 48.97s ACTUALLY REPRESENT? There is also an interesting comparison behind this lap. A 48.97-second lap at Oppenrod is already within a range of lap times where many KZ Shifter drivers can also run, using karts equipped with engines producing more than 50 horsepower. I achieved this time with a Rotax DD2, after only around 8 months of dedicated karting and with no previous DD2 experience. This doesn't mean that a DD2 is faster than a KZ Shifter — they are completely different categories, with different engines, characteristics and driving styles. But as a reference, it gives some context to the level of performance represented by this lap. 🏆 48.97 seconds. My personal best. And honestly, this is one of the most beautiful things I have ever achieved in my life. Karting has given me much more than lap times. It has brought me new friendships, incredible experiences, challenges, knowledge and people who became an important part of my journey. Of course, not everything has been positive. Along the way, there have also been disappointments, criticism and unfortunately even some haters. But that's part of the journey too. I chose to dedicate myself to something I truly love and to find out just how far I could push myself. 48.97s is not the end. It's proof that the work was worth it.
