In this video, we are taking you inside the historic 25th Rajata Mahotsava (Silver Jubilee) of the Akka Sammelana, held in the vibrant city of Philadelphia. This year’s three-day celebration brought together over 5,000 to 6,000 Kannadigas from all across America, alongside incredible artists, performers, and dignitaries flying in straight from Karnataka. The energy, the warmth, and the sheer scale of seeing our community thrive abroad was nothing short of magical. The Real Story Behind the Scenes As Global Kannadiga, my journey has always been about serving our mother tongue and building bridges for our community. Naturally, attending a milestone event like the Silver Jubilee comes with high expectations—especially regarding how creators and cultural advocates who champion Kannada from afar are recognized. Rumors and whispers have floated around regarding whether I was sidelined, ignored, or given the prominence I deserved on stage. In this video, I address the elephant in the room head-on: Did I get the respect I expected? Was I sidelined? Why Family Comes First While it's true that the spotlight didn't shine where some expected it to, true passion for a language doesn't depend on a microphone or a main stage. My primary goal for traveling all the way to Philadelphia wasn't for personal glory—it was to meet you, my fellow Kannadigas, share a warm hug, listen to your stories, and celebrate our shared heritage together on foreign soil.
