It conquered an empire from the Adriatic to the Indus. It turned boy-kings into living gods and reduced Persia, Egypt and India to footnotes. For a hundred and fifty years, no army on earth found a way through it. Then Rome did — twice — and ended it for good.
Using AI reconstruction, we’ve rebuilt the two battles where Rome tore apart the most feared weapon system in the ancient world: Cynoscephalae in 197 BC and Pydna in 168 BC, fought a generation apart against two different Macedonian kings, and crushed the same way both times. This is the story of how Rome’s legion did what Persia, Egypt and every army since Alexander couldn’t — find the one flaw in an “unbeatable” formation and tear it apart in under an hour.
