One Day in Vienna — October 3, 2026. This time, the city stayed inside its museums long after the usual sightseeing day was over. This episode takes you through the 26th ORF Long Night of Museums, one of Austria’s biggest annual cultural events. On October 3, around 670 museums, galleries and cultural institutions across Austria and several neighboring regions opened their doors from 6:00 PM until midnight. The concept is simple: one ticket gives visitors access to participating institutions, special exhibitions, guided tours and events throughout the evening. In Vienna, the same ticket also served as public-transport fare during the event. The regular ticket price in 2026 was €19, with a reduced ticket at €16. The central Vienna meeting point, Treffpunkt Museum, was located at Maria-Theresien-Platz, where visitors could collect information, programmes and plan their own route through the city. The real challenge was not finding something interesting — it was deciding what could realistically fit into just six hours. For this edition of ONE DAY IN VIENNA, I chose six very different stops.
