Time to save Baudimon!
You don't get many slots for deployment here. Eight in total with Jakka & Colter being required. I'm bringing Rodd for one of the prisoners in this map and nothing else.
Speaking of prisoners, they're the focal point for this chapter's secret lunatic objective. Baudimon's cell is on the far western side of the map and you need to open it within 20 turns while rescuing all prisoners.
Talking to every prisoner turns them green and grants you an item save for two of them. The guaranteed pickups are a Protein Bean, Blue Gem, Golden Egg, and Master Seal. The other two are...special.
The first one is right next to a cell guarded by a Knight. Inside the cell is someone familiar if you got the ch1 secret event, Jesse. Jakka, Colter, or Natalie can recruit him. Let's talk about him and one other person who joined very recently, Isabelle.
Starting out with Jesse, he's a bit like Shay in the sense he wants to gravitate towards magic swords, having a higher mag base & growth compared to his str. There's even a unique Lucky Knife if you have him wait one turn in his cell. This has 1-2 range, boosts luck by 7, and grants the Lucky Seven skill (20% hit & avoid for the first 7 turns of a chapter).
Jesse only has two bad growths in str & def. Everything else is very close to or above 50%.
Jesse's personal skill is Scavenge which is tied to his addiction to Red Dust. At a chance equal to his luck, he can find Red Dust if he attacks & kills an enemy.
Finally...we have #3 on the must survive and be promoted to access a bonus chapter character, Isabelle. She's a Knight and boy does she kick some tail. She has the high hp, str, and def of a typical Knight, but with quite decent spd & res. In fact, res is her lowest growth at 30%, followed by luck at 35%, then everything else close to or over 50%.
Oh, and unlike typical Knights, she doesn't just have access to spears, she can use swords too.
Isabelle's personal skill is Resolve. She gets 30% more str/mag/skl/spd if her hp is under 50%
Now, for those two special prisoners. One is right next to Jesse's cell. This guy normally gives a White Shard, but if Rodd is the one to speak to him, you get a Dragonshield.
The other one is in the cell right below the chest in the north central part of the map. In this cell is a peculiar individual, the Weird Sage. Chat with the person and you'll get the option to swap the str & mag stats with whomever initiated the talk. Angelus can't though sadly.
As a reward, the Weird Sage will give an item depending on whatever stat is higher after swapping. If it's str, then you get an Energy Ring. If it's mag, then you get a magic weapon dependent on the character's highest weapon rank.
Finally...there is a red unit two cells to the west of the Weird Sage. Inside is a Berserker-looking unit, but with no weapons. Jakka can recruit him.
This guy is Crixus and serves as the secret event of this chapter. He's a Gladiator, a class that has the innate crit rate boost seen by Berserkers, but has access to swords, lances, axes, and bows. Decent bases & growths for the most part aside from mag & res.
His personal skill is Life & Death. He takes 10 more damage, but also deals 10 extra damage.
As for the chests on this map, you come out of it with a Stiletto and three magic weapons in a Flame Sword & Flame Lance plus a Shining Bow.
Before you open Baud's cell, make sure to break the wall near the trio of chests, trust me.
Upon opening Baud's cell, a cutscene starts. It doesn't take long for Aylanda & Jakka to find that....well, Baudimon's dead. This hits HARD. You don't expect someone like Baud to just up and get killed mysteriously in a cell just like that.
Just about everyone you fielded this chapter has a quick thing to say. Most are shell shocked, but Isabelle gets a special mention. Let's just say she's the X from Maverick Hunter X to Baud's Zero and Mortimer's Sigma and leave it at that.
Speaking of Mortimer, he comes in all calm and says "Yeah, I killed him". Jakka is NOT happy...and Mortimer could care less. In fact, Mortimer wants anyone not named Aylanda to die and probably laughs maniacally in his quarters cause this Mortimer is a clone that promptly gets deleted by an angry Jakka. I didn't think we'd have two angry Xs in this scene, but here we are, heh.
Jakka quickly regains his composure and has to convince a distraught Aylanda that dying down here isn't something Baud would want. Besides, Aylanda still has her child. There's still a light of hope and she needs to live for the baby's sake. This is enough to convince her to escape...and Jakka grabs Baud's body.
More next time!
